What Was Neodesha Like in 1873?

Try to imagine Neodesha in its infancy. A few business buildings, most of them grimy and poorly constructed. Hardly any grass or trees within the town. A decent house could be purchased for $700 or less. But three steam sawmills, a flour mill, a wagon manufacturer and other businesses spoke of possible prosperity ahead.

Lavera (Worley) Lyon, 90, died August 23 at the Golden Living Center in Neodesha.

 
Martha (Thomas) Hefley, 77, died August 16 at the home of her daughter in Broken Arrow, Okla.
