Scott LaForte
Scott “Scottie” Emerson LaForte of Neodesha, died Monday, October 2, 2006, at
the Wilson County Hospital. He was 51.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Friday,
October 6, 2006, at the Neodesha Cemetery. Penwell-Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel is
in charge of arrangements. The Reverend Dave Cheshier will officiate.
The son of Emerson Walter and Dorothy Elaine (Osburn) LaForte, he was born March
25, 1955, in Providence, RI. He was a lifelong resident of Neodesha, graduating
from Neodesha High School in 1974. He also received a degree in computer
assisted drafting from Independence Community College and attended training to
be a truck driver in Kansas City, Missouri.
Mr. LaForte served as a tank commander for the US Marines in Vietnam. He was a
member of the Lord’s Chapel.
Survivors include his mother Dorothy LaForte of Neodesha; five brothers Chuck
Bomboy of Minnesota, Alan, Phillip and Dennis LaForte, all of Neodesha, and
Kevin LaForte of Independence, KS; four sisters, Anne Bomboy of New Mexico,
Denise Lour of Sycamore, KS, Teresa LaForte and MaryBeth Arnold, both of
Neodesha.
He is preceded in death by his father Emerson Walter LaForte and a sister, Becky
LaForte Sexton.
Memorial contributions may be made to Barney’s Little League in care of the
Neodesha Recreation Commission and may be left at the funeral home. Mr. LaForte
was a grandson of the late Barney Osburn, the namesake of the local little
league.
