Class of 1966 Informal Reunion in 2002

Some of the girls from the class of 1966 got together recently.
Vickie Carver Cook sent this picture:

When I was a senior at NHS, I had study hall with many of the above girls, and got to know Vickie Barb, Patti Greer and the late Shirley Goodmon. I really enjoyed their friendship and an enthusiasm one seldom sees today. A similar picture appeared in the Neodesha Derrick recently, and on January 2nd, 2003, the following letter appeared from Shirley's cousin, Connie:

I really like the photos from your "far-flung fans" on the "Where in the World is the Derrick?" page of the paper! I especially liked the one with the "Class of '66 Girls." Patti (Greer) Gold and Vickie (Carver) Cook are relatives of mine and I always looked up to all of these girls. However, one face that I truly missed in this picture was my cousin, Shirley (Goodmon) Smith who was taken from us by cancer a few years ago.

I was in junior high when they were all seniors at Neodesha High School. Patti and Shirley always seemed to be "joined at the hip". They were always laughing and cutting up and were so fun to be around. I'm sure sometimes they didn't really want me there but they would let me hang around with them anyway. I always thought their boyfriends were so awesome! (Ha!)

Anyway, I miss Shirley a lot, as I'm sure they all did that day, too. But I just wanted them all to know how special I always thought they were!

Connie (Goodmon) Johnson

At the request of Patti Greer Gold I added Shirley to the Memoriam section the web site. Here is a link to her particular page: Class of 1966 Memoriams.
